As I was sitting here working through our Kickstarter in order to raise support to bring “A Christmas Carol” to the stage in New York, something hit me. While creating the rewards for those giving, I realized they were only for the person giving in support of the show. Then it hit me, “you gotta give to enjoy your life Mr. Scrooge”. Yes, it does cost a bit to produce a production, but we have to be willing to take some of that support and give it to those that are less fortunate over the Christmas/Holiday Season. I am very excited because for each level we will be taking part of that support and purchasing blankets to cover some beds at some local shelters in NYC and or boys/girls winter coats for New York Cares, which is an organization that hosts major coat drives. Click HERE for more info on New York Cares. Now, back to the drawing board and creating a tiered reward in Kickstarter that not only benefits those that help support show, but those less fortunate and in need of a warm blanket and coat. This Christmas/Holiday Season, be a part of giving to 300 locations in New York. In the words of Sister Spirit (The Ghost of Christmas Present), “When you give, give from the heart. When you give, give a whole lot”. For me it was a time of testing since the new cast had never heard this new musical rendition of "A Christmas Carol". A little testing because I wrote the show and just like it takes getting use to hearing your own singing voice, the same applies to music composed. Fortunately for me, I have been writing for quite some time and I'm okay with it. The first hour of our meeting included the parents of which I was very encouraged. Lets face it, for many it was a new place, with new faces, whom they had never met nor knew anything about. I always say that a good name is more desirable than all the riches in the world. Take Scrooge for example, he was rich and could have anything of his desire, but had a famous name of horrible reputation that Marleyed his life. So what are some things I find so special about this cast? I am glad you asked. Yes, the talent is amazing, but the commitment and love of the art from each cast member, is the foundation to what I know will be an amazing show. They have heart! ("You've Gotta Have Heart" first person to email me what show that song is from, will receive a nice gift). We have cast members from Long Island, NYC, New Jersey, South Harlem, Brooklyn, and as far as Massachusetts that will be making their way in for rehearsals into Long Island and New York City. I don't know about you, but I believe we are pumped for an amazing show. So the time of testing came, YIKES! The cast was introduced to the music and the reaction was what I had hoped for, they knew they had a great show on their hands full of life. I loved the expressions as they listened intently enjoying every minute of it. You are not going to miss this one and if you do, I'll forgive you some time in the future. All kidding aside, YOU MUST SEE IT! Over the course of the next few months on this journey we will be highlighting every cast member in the show because each one of them are so precious to the art. We will have fun in keeping track of their individual journeys in the role/s they are performing. In addition, you will have the opportunity to support each of them at our Kickstarter page, which is coming soon. We are all looking forward to amazing show of "A Christmas Carol", A New Musical.
